This past Saturday, July 20, the incoming officers for Knights of Columbus Council 1806 were officially installed in their posts, promising to uphold the values their offices and lives as Knights demand. Awards for Family and Knight of the Year were also given.
Opening and closing with prayer and blessing from Dcn. Todd Taylor, also an officer of the council, the newly minted officers received their insignia, as well as encouragement and challenge from the installing officers from all levels of Arizona's Knights of Columbus, including State Deputy Tom Kato.
After the installation, Grand Knight Merrick announced the Family of the Year and Knight of the Year awards, going to the Escalera family and to incoming Deputy Grand Knight Dan Nicholls, respectively.
Sandwiches and refreshments followed, along with friendly conversation, children playing, and discussion of plans for the coming year.
